Edelson Lechtzin LLP is investigating Gartner for possible securities law violations after the company cut its 2025 revenue forecast, citing cost-cutting tied to tariff risks.

Following the disclosure, Gartner’s stock fell 27.55% to $243.93.

The firm urges affected investors or those with relevant information to come forward.

"Gartner's enterprise client count has declined for 10 consecutive quarters, dropping from over 14,000 to 11,875 clients—a loss of approximately 2,300 enterprise accounts."

The answer and reason is obvious, but someone felt like analyzing it.

The stock has gone up a bit, however due to BUYBACK AUTHORIZATION:

https://www.investing.com/news/analyst-ratings/gartner-stock-sees-increased-buyback-authorization-as-ubs-maintains-neutral-stance-93CH-4239010

UBS remains neutral due to slowing contract value growth.

https://www.investing.com/news/analyst-ratings/ubs-downgrades-gartner-stock-to-neutral-on-slowing-contract-value-growth-93CH-4172115

"... The downgrade follows what UBS described as a "large Q2 NCVI miss" that has lowered the near-term trajectory for Gartner’s contract value growth by approximately 100 basis points.

UBS now projects Gartner’s contract value growth to exit 2025 at a 2.5% rate, down from its previous estimate of 5.1%, reflecting a substantial slowdown in the company’s core business metrics.

The investment bank has also reduced its organic growth forecast for Gartner in 2026 to 3% from 6% previously, indicating a more prolonged period of slower expansion for the research and advisory company."

@2tp Maybe wishful thinking from my part as it might be completely irrelevant, but I do hope that in this investigation, the manner which layoffs are conducted come to the surface too. The micromanagement, the sham PiPs, the condescension in team meetings in front of your peers, favouritism and worst of all the "grooming" of younger graduates, business analysts straight from uni and of course, the pet of the manager who all at any time can act as attack dogs with impunity - being rude, abrasive, arrogant etc - all with management blessings. All this charade to get you terminated. It would be more humane and business-like just to say "we can't afford you at this time, hopefully we can have you back again" rather than actually make it personal by making you go through such an ordeal.

From what I have heard, I wasn't the only one that went through a similar journey before getting "terminated". If you find yourself going through similar, I am really sorry.

Lastly, I wasn't able to share too many details but I would like to end with saying that Gartner was, and still remains, the best job I ever had. It changed my life. At one point, I had everything - I was literally living my dreams. But if you are a person who does your job with passion, focus but refuse to drink the "Kool-Aid" and moreover find yourself in an ecosystem of managers/directors which are themselves a product of in---t (Yes-People), you will find yourself increasingly in corporate quicksand. Sometimes, you need a bit of luck. Take care of yourselves wherever you are and maybe, we all need to have bigger and more audacious dreams. There are a lot of problems to be solved around the world.

From this investigation, may truth prevail.

Gartner: weak momentum

(...) Investors should exercise caution with Gartner at this time. The technical outlook is weak, with bearish patterns dominating the chart. Analysts are split..., and big-money flows are not showing strong conviction. While the fundamental metrics suggest some resilience in profitability, the leverage and operational efficiency concerns remain...

If their investigation is thorough it should reveal how many people they quietly laid off or quit (that is, was forced to leave) in recent months, exposing their hypocrisy. The steady, near-weekly layoff numbers must add up to a pretty substantial amount. Anyone have any idea how many people were let go or "quit" between April and August?
