Or am I an id--t for believing that things will actually change for the better after the CEO ousting?

All comes down to the new CEO and the board. However, I doubt the new CEO or the board is patient enough or willing to invest to rebuild the numbers again to grow and support the products which were cut to the bone and beyond. Vast knowledge already lost with Mark's unfocused layoffs and cost cuttings.
Back to old Mark's ways of easy options and sell non core products and focus on remaining core OT products. Salvage what they can.
At least OT will no longer suffer Mark's slow death of a thousand cuts.
Change is progress…and progress will speed up the process to success or failure. One way or another we are closer to understanding our future.
