Thread regarding Chevron Phillips Chemical layoffs

I didn't know the cost. Per the internet.

Chevron Phillips Chemical's old headquarters building, located at 10001 Six Pines Drive in The Woodlands, Texas, was valued at $30 million by the Montgomery Central Appraisal District. The building was sold to Howard Hughes Holdings, the developer of The Woodlands, in June 2024 for $19.2 million. The building has 142,000 square feet of space. The company has since moved its global headquarters to a new location at 9500 Lakeside Blvd. in The Woodlands.

@bq A boat, pickleball court, butterfly garden, cross fit trailer and state of the art gym was all necessary? Is any work getting done? I don't see how this helps turn a profit for the company.

@bq Especially if you get rid of a third of those costs…

@a2 the ball was set in motion with the previous two CEOs. Times were different when they went down that path. However, you can't just look at 1 building but at the multiple buildings that CPChem had over spilled into. It truly saved money for the company when bringing all costs under one roof.

@OP who at Cpchem was behind the push to have the new HQ? Just curious, the old building wasn't perfect. Does anyone know who deemed the change necessary?
