ChatGPT is a great resource that can provide you with a lot of useful information. When it comes to layoffs, is this number accurate? Should companies replace old employees with new ones? Of course, these layoffs may seem low compared to the total number of employees. I estimate that a certain number of people from new acquisitions will be coming in, so "we" need to part ways with some older employees. This is what I’m observing. I wonder when the impact of the newly acquired companies will be felt—what is the average timeline for CDW? Is it 1, 2, or 3 years? It’s unbelievable how many are reporting that they’re managing the acquired personnel poorly.

For my research on ChatGPT, I want to summarize some thoughts to consider:

  • In 2023, approximately $76 million was invested against around 450 to 750 layoffs.
  • In 2024, about $324 million was invested, with an estimated "significant" number of layoffs (anecdotal evidence suggests around 320).
  • As of 2025 to date, about $5 million has been invested, with cumulative layoffs approaching 1,500 across the three years.

To our government: we are struggling. If any of us need to look for a job for more than 6 to 9 months, please ensure we have support options available. Free healthcare would be a start (basic for families, with the option to buy private insurance if needed). There should be a 3 to 6-month notice period before positions are eliminated so that people can leave the company without putting their families through financial hardship. We do not have enough social safety nets in this country, and we pay so much for education that it’s time to take care of the people, especially when CEOs often lack dignity when it comes to pay and bonuses.

So, Mr. Trump and any future president: just do better! Businesses in other countries thrive, while we’re often treated poorly here. When you’re over 20, 30, 40, 50, or even 60, you should have some protection. So many young people are leaving this country, and I must say, if this doesn’t change, America will not remain Great for so many! We are all increasingly vulnerable day to day, and even if we’re making a "good salary" while employed, we could lose it all within a few months.

Executive level people, why do you guys keep hiring terrible middle managers?
Executives (I know you're here), I am constantly reading horror stories about people who deal with a middle manager that knows nothing about the team they manage, the field they're working in, etc. This hasn't happened to me (yet), but I have to ask, what possesses you all to hire these id--ts?

Spot on. You nailed exactly how CDW operates! They buy up companies, shuffle in their people, and quietly push out the ones who actually built the place. It’s cannibalism dressed up as “growth.” And while they’re cashing bonus checks and throwing money at flashy contracts, the rest of us get tossed aside like we’re nothing.

Worst of all, they act shocked when those same people take their knowledge, their clients, and their trust somewhere else. Actions have consequences. CDW’s only loyalty is to the spreadsheet, and the rest is smoke and mirrors.
