@gs Agree; however, 40 years ago or even 20, most professionals were looking to stay at one company and retire.
@dv any old boomer who thinks that a young person in 2025 entering chevron is expecting a 40 year career is also just as braindead. Have you even thought for a moment that sometimes people just want a job and will evaluate opportunities every now and then?
I bet the 40 year chevron veterans probably didn’t envision staying that long when they were early in their career too.

Any young person choosing oil and gas in college during 2025 deserves to be laid off for being d-mb enough to think they can make a 40 year career out of this profession. I look at our interns and think, do yall really think there is going to be enough oil companies to sustain a 40 year career?

There were some early career employees let go in round 1, yes. There will likely be some in round 2 as well. However I think anyone hired in 2024-25 was safe from the layoffs. From what I saw, the early career folks that were let go either took the EOI or were chosen because they weren't learning or getting something that others were.
