Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Car Shops

With all this merger or acquisition talk, I wonder if they will keep the Louisville and Cincinnati Car shops open.

Who decided the number 488 for creditable days of training for Carmen. It’s very similar to a ADL defined hate symbol. The numerology at this company is questionable and possibly symbolic.

They told you not to worry for 2 years. This gives you time to get your financial affairs in line , so if the inevitable happens you will be ready .

When NS took over Conrail, they closed the largest car shop in the U S, because they could, nobody is safe, they already have an agenda, they need to recoup the money they are spending to buy N S, if you think you or your location are safe, research what N S closed or contracted out. U P will do the same

Well they promised the Macedonia Car shop that as long as we stayed safe and kept putting out a good product, we'd always have a job. HAHAHAH

If they told you water is wet, I wouldn't believe them.

All they have to do is purchase a few million dollars worth of a certain crypto and all the red tape will magically dissapear

@n3 this has been in the works behind closed doors for months. This will take a year or maybe two, but all this talk about applications and Hearings with STB is just Red Tape. They've already added UP to the screensavers at my location. There already have Zoom meetings with NS management about the transition. You think they would be doing all this if it wasn't a done deal behind closed doors?

@n3 yea but the New Orleans voodoo magic is working. NSC will cease to exist soon.

I really wouldn't be too worried about it happening for a long while. Just because the agreement between the UP and NS was reached, does not in any way mean that it's a done deal. The "merger" or "acquisition" still has to be approved by the federal government. The BNSF and the CSX are already pushing back on it as we speak. The UP has to prove that they can acquire the NS network with minimal disruption to the network. Remember the hearings the class 1's had in regards to PSR? Does anyone really believe that this deal is going to go smoothly at all? The NS and UP both fumbled their versions of PSR, and now they want to merge? I'm sorry but I just don't see the deal happening anytime soon or at all!

This is 100% an ACQUISITION ... The only ppl referring to this as a merger are the NS Csuite and all the managers that were forced to sign NDAs and told to only refer to it as such so as not to cause a mass exodus...and let me assure you the CSuiters have already been assured comfortable compensation for when they leave... The rest of us will not ... Welcome to corporate greed 101

Hopefully not with all the substandard work being or not being done at these antiquated locations. Good luck with your 1 year severance packages.
