Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Can Gainwell get out of their own way?

For several reasons that I can think of, Gainwell has sent many employees to other companies only to have them work for Gainwell as contractors. And from what I've seen on multiple occasions since the rebadging is Gainwell trying to hold those individuals to a higher standard than themselves could ever achieve or what they would have expected from those same individuals when they were actual Gainwell employees.

It's Gainwell's way of passing the buck when things break. Particularly when it was under the Gainwell's mismanagement that created the dumpster fires that we see on a daily basis. It's easy to point their finger at the contractors (ex-employees) and say it's their fault rather than admit they themselves did not put forth enough effort to guarantee the implementation of highly fault-tolerant or resilient systems.

In addition to, there aren't proper or standardized processes in place, You have Gainwell execs and managers pushing for or implementing projects that they have no prior or actual experience with. And it definitely shows.

What I wouldn't do for manager with technical knowledge and actual hands on experience. I keep getting project managers.

Instead of propelling you forward, they're too busy keeping you down within their scope of knowledge and expertise. Which is what you would expect from a non-technical manager.

Gainwell is a travesty simply put. Let us step though some of the issues seen on a daily basis.

  1. Lack of standardization and well defined processes. And if there is a process setup. No worries, because people can't read or will refuse to follow. They have little or no respect for team-mates intra-departmental or inter-departmental.

  2. No true understanding of teamwork as well as putting ones ego and need to secure their piece of territory to the side for the greater good of not only for themselves and coworkers, but the company as a whole. Not understanding that if the company succeed they are more likely to advance upwards themselves and keep their jobs. The constant mindgames, gas-lighting and games not only from management, but also fellow co-workers should not be allowed. But it does, and it's the culture at Gainwell.

  3. Everyday is groundhog day, where you see the same issues on a recurring basis at least once or twice a week. The lack of fault tolerance and resiliency is embarrassing. Making corrective changes is red-tape and politics. As if no one one understood the concept when systems and applications were designed and put in place. If something does break, expect the one individual that might know how to fix it, to be unavailable or unreachable.

  4. There is a need for advanced technical people, or engineers , etc in higher management positions. If you can't feel the pulse of your department or organization without looking a Excel spreadsheet or pivot table. You are most likely not suited to be upper management or supervisory position for a information technology services company. As is, there are too many managers or project managers without actual hands-on experience fulfilling roles that they shouldn't. And there you have Gainwell.

I could literally write a encyclopedia on what is wrong with Gainwell. But would end up in a mental ward due to exhaustion and stress related illnesses.

Before I begin, let me state. I come from a multi-racial and cultural background. I'm no bigot.

Every call and bridge I attend. I see more and more managers from India on. I have no clue what they manage or do for Gainwell. And it's just not the managers from India.

I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but they have a sense of entitlement. As if they're too good to read or produce documentation for themselves. And expect their American subordinates/counter-parts to do for them or pick up their slack. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this. It's possibly because they know Gainwell will be an Indian company with readily available access to data of U.S. citizens. What better way to produce leads for their overseas call-centers.

@10c honestly, without a drop in interest rates, they’re teetering on BK.

no, I don't think Gainwell will get out of their own way. If anything, it will get worst.

Case in point. The implementation practice brought in a brand spanking new VP of testing, supposedly to fix the incompetence of the former leader (K Pras). After only a couple of months, the new VP (rha u) threw in the towel and send 280+ gainwell testers to Infinite. So, lets get this straight. Gainwell could not fix what was wrong with the testing practice, so they decided to bring in a company who understands the business even less than gainwell does, and expects them to magically fix everything??

that is gainwell in a nutshell for you. The clowns are running the circus.

they did it to ITO, they did it to the testing practice and they did it to the EDI folks. do you think they will stop there?

the 6 billion loan is almost up, there is no buyer in sight. what do you think will happen? what does common sense tells you will happen?

all of us are racing against the clock, the job market its super tough. get out if you can as soon as you can.

good luck everybody, we are going yo need it.

It’s a clown management . Not a single person is happy . I understand they want a lean model but the new management is unfit to do it . Clown management keeps hiring managers and have no idea how to streamline the operations. The current management is bluffing the investors as well as the clients . Fire the higher management like right now immediately and save Gainwell .

Reminder that Gainwell outsourced certain teams just so they could blame new vendors for their constant failures. This company is a joke and run by con artists.

No way. I've never witnessed a bigger mess than Gainwell in 40 plus years of working in information technology. Period. End of sentence.

The answer to your question is a 'NO'. They will continue to act and behave as they have for as long as I can remember. It's a combination of protecting one's ego as well as their position at all cost. They know they will be allowed to keep doing what they've been doing no matter the cost. Whereas with most other companies they would have already been shown the door.
