Locomotive repair locations

With all this merger or acquisition talk, can anyone tell me the locations of the NS locomotive repair facilities? Thanks, and good luck hope everyone makes it through this.

I guess my time with the railroad will be coming to an end soon. Thought I would be safe from physicals by staying on the mechanical side. Can't get my A1c levels under control in the time frame given by NS. Was hoping to get a full 30 in but not looking like it will be happening.

Apparently this has been in the works longer than anyone realized. Old shop managers that suddenly disappeared a year ago are actually out west being trained the UP way. These managers replacements have already been through the UP program. These individuals are usually being placed back in their home shops to trim down to bare bones. If you have your 20 better start building a case for occupational.

Great if your close to retirement age ,you can ride disability get 80% of your wage and health care for a couple of years and dont have to look over your shoulder because they are the ones that put you out of service. Thats why you pay union dues, look at your contract.

People out West are saying one of UP's favorite tactics for clearing out 20+ year employees is to suddenly require a physical for laborer positions. The old guys get taken out of service. They prefer the younger guys with less vacation time.

Like I said, they will keep Juniata running. The REAL reason UP wants NS. Better than the best.

It’s way too early to speculate on which service locations will remain open, scale back, or close. NS had plans to close facilities that never happened. Facilities in the middle of the country may be at higher risk of job loss, or worse, vs facilities on the east and west coast.

I heard there keeping the Atlanta Engine terminal but getting rid of the shop. As it’s not needed with the close proximity to Chattanooga’s heavy repair shop.

Chattanooga Diesel Shop needs to be overhauled. From corrupt management to corruption in a certain union that helps to get it's union members terminated. Then you have an individual who get multiple dui convictions and is still able to drive company vehicles. That shop is rotten to the core.

Honestly we’re probably all cooked bro. The people I work with couldn’t hold down a job at McDonald’s. I’m sure UP has far greater standards than NS.

Will they keep Juniata shop open? It is a older shop. Jenks shop is a newer overhaul facility and is in the middle of the two railroads.

@ba hey, sorry I asked. Look man we are all in this together like it or not. I don’t know many craftspeople that are happy this is happening. It’s going to be turbulent to say the least. Hopefully anyone displaced will have a location to move to so they can make it to the magic numbers for retirement. Again, good luck, we’re all going to need it.
