Conway management stinks not qualified. Little kids pointing fingers at one another .Who cares shut Conway down burn it down tear it down .Newyork doc or Washington job protection act just try to collect.
NS was unable to operate with Bellevue hump yards shutdown and had to reopen them to operate under PSR.
I agree UP wll go full speed with PSR and sell off lines and cut local services to get PSR back on track in Bellevue and all other locations.
Before PSR Bellevue was a huge classification yard with some of the best mechanics on NS, can't replace the experience.
Just saying!!
I heard the same thing from my friend who is in up management, union pacific the will return to the psr plans like ns did in 2020, Elkhart and Conway stays open, Bellevue hump closes down and runs only local trains, intermodal trains and holding point for block trains waiting to get into elkhart or conway only reason bellevue stays open is local trains and intermodal. Conway and Elkhart can't handle intermodal traffic it congest their yards to much. Bellevue work force will be cut down by 50% they are estimating 600 to 800 cars a day that need to be worked. Right now its 2500 to 3000 a day. Some ns short lines and will be sold to csx to eliminate congestion and then csx can have the bussiness UP/NS losses just to make system run smoother and in the end they will make more profit with long hauls then keeping the business and shortline tracks they loss to csx to eliminate congestion.
I’m hearing the same. The pool of job applicants leave a lot to be desired in a city like Bellevue. Conway is a much better location to find qualified people.
