Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

So what will they monitor and how?

The snooping charter will be dropping on us soon.

Does anyone actually know what they can’t and can’t monitor?

DXC and Rahool couldn’t organise an or-y in a br----l so I’m not too confident they have the skills or tools themselves….

However DXC have known to be ba----ds in the past and present, so they know the game very well. Don’t be surprised if they’ve onboarded the IDF to track your every move daily and have productivity reports ready to ki-l you from next week.

Friday PM email too. Just like the old days. Bad news on Fridays.

What these stupid mofos don’t realise is they’re working in a new era of grads and young people. They need breaks, they need time out, they need walks, they need to clear their minds….

What a time to be in DXC.

@a7 Yes all of this will be passed to AI, to train the AI.

@ch We'll all be marked up as doing nothing and put on a spreadsheet of people they don't need. Bring it on - I have very little use of DXC teams / email / or laptop. It's for DXC admin only! And I avoid that because it's just a waste of everyone's time and talent.

Tracking emails sent, time on Teams calls, mouse clicks, or whether someone streams music while working doesn’t uncover efficiency. The real issue is that the company lacks systems and processes for bringing in work, allocating it properly, and understanding who’s underused and who’s overloaded. That’s a direct result of a long-standing reluctance to invest in the back office. Everything runs on spreadsheets and email chains, with managers escalating just to get things done. That’s DXC’s real problem!!

Most of this could have been automated years ago with the right structure. Take any client task — break it down, let everyone involved break it further until it reaches an actionable step, and send it off — ideally to a machine. Or a person. No extra approval. If it’s needed, it’s needed. And it's all logged, and traceable. So that AI can later ask: why does a website with 20 daily hits need 9 servers and 2TB of storage? And why did it take 6 developer's 8 weeks to code. Dare I say - Managers Ego on their big team that has a lot of servers!!

Internet traffic can’t be monitored unless your on company VPN.

They would have to go full IDF on you to track your keystrokes. Maybe they already are, but to prove that level of surveillance they would fall foul of every contract they have as the keystrokes would be logged and held by a third party which includes sensitive data.

Most likely they can track how much time you spend on what app. And inactivity on Teams. Some companies have the Teams inactivity tracker.

Out of the box there isn’t much more they can do. As a staff of the company you have a right to know what tools are in place. In Germany they can’t do anything to us. It’s illegal.

One thing for absolute certainty is they won’t be doing this on UKSS. It’s a network built on broken glass and tape. Any fu-kery on there, they need to get it run past MoD and various other secure partners.

Fu-k DXC
Fu-k Raool

They need to fire this re--rd. He hasn’t got a clue.

@a9 in all seriousness, anyone who uses a work laptop for the purposes you describe deserves to be sacked.
I learned a very long time to never give your employer the merest hint of not complying with company rules as its the easiest excuse in the world for them to get rid of you.
If that lesson hasn’t been learned or is it known the everyone better learn it fast.

I am guessing things like people who apply for jobs, use Teams for job interviews , or book personal holidays, or watch YT videos / movies using company laptops, or do online trading etc. I may be wrong. Company laptop should only be used for work etc.!

Sorry - Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. What on earth are you trying to say? Please write in simple language, not code words etc.

It's all sorts of data they are going to be using... And supposedly feeding it into AI to generate some sort of utilisation percentage.

The time you login and log off, the number of emails you open and send, the number of meetings you attend and for how long, number of teams messages sent and received, the amount of time your teams is reporting "away from keyboard" and more...

I don't believe the policies that he pointed out cover this use of this data for this purpose, not when it could be used to sack someone for misconduct.

Without complete transparency about how the metrics are calculated, clearly defined expectations of employee behaviour and agreement from works councils and unions and industrial tribunals they could well be in hot water.

He didn't even have the honesty to actually spell out what he meant.

Another half baked idea from a bunch of desperate clowns who don't understand anything.
