Before its too late. Get yourself a slip trip or fall. Have a back issue. Ns dosnt do light duty. You will be put outta work before the furlough and will receive your pay during this difficult process. Good luck

NS sent an e-mail to all employees in April 2019 announcing the new "Clean Sheeting" program. We were told the head count reduction would be through attrition (retirements with no new hiring).
A month later 20% of the workforce was furloughed and we were told old people weren't "attritioning" fast enough, so furloughs had to be implemented. 1 year and 3 more mass furloughs and we only had 20% of the workforce remaining.
Management seems to understand how disappointed we all were with the blatant misinformation, so I'm sure that won't happen again.
I was working for Conrail before NS took over. Thet told us the same thing. After the take over and split up, They closed Conrails headquarters in Philadelphia, the Customer Service Center in Pittsburgh, the eastbound hump at Conway, the Hollidaysburg car shop, etc. Don't believe a word they tell you. They will do and say anything to get this thing approved and then they are coming for you.
But…but…both companies have publicly stated that everyone will still have a job! No reason to doubt that, right? Everything is going to be fine. No need to worry. They said so.
