Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

CBH

Does anyone else feel that this company is the worst experience of their career?

It seems that too many employees here are incapable of handling basic tasks. I have never seen anything like it in 30 years of working.

Competent employees seem to always get laid off too.

I guess I am posting this because I am wondering if anyone else has noticed it, and to get my feelings off of my chest.

Many years ago that place was fantastic. Now they are just empty, powerpoint warriors stuck in the quicksand that is Elevance.

And I thought I was the only one who felt this way. The incompetence about basic tenets of business are astounding.

Thank you all very much for making me feel better!

I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone these days that likes working here

I have not been able to get one offer outside of this company since I started, after years of getting offers more effortlessly. At this point, I’m seriously just thinking of doing my own business.

Every single day. Never in my career I have seen such gross incompetence all the way up into ELT. This is been by far the WORST decision I have made in my career. I’m interviewing and companies I’m interviewing for seen very off put about Elevance and not eager to hire an Elevance employee.

Yes. They want people who will not question decisions. “Innovation” is just doing the same thing we did 5 or 10 years ago but calling it something else. They don’t want any type of innovation coming from the people that do the work. Your job is to do the work quickly, with the best quality (hit all those metrics) and always be thrilled and positive with any change that is made or bottleneck or roadblock that is caused by leadership because they don’t know cr-p about actually doing the job. Also the departments in this company are not transparent with each other. So don’t let anyone in any other department see that something went wrong with a project or anything even if it affects them, just hide it and then if it does come out, blame or point fingers to another department. The issues are some departments don’t want to truly work together, it’s a competition instead. This is because their “leaders” have some serious beef with each other, so they drag down everyone. It’s seriously like middle school and they wonder why this place is going down.

What this company considers competent is equal to obedience - if you keep your mouth shut, agree in a very positive manner with every decision. Never challenge any decision -all is well.

If you can muster a "how could I be more productive" in every 1:1 you stand a chance. The hard part is doing all of the above in some manner that sounds like you mean it. And hit all your metrics.

Definitely noticed it. Nothing we can do about it.

I think you are not alone in your observations. The more incompetent employees are promoted while the rest are left behind.
