Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Convenience Sales Rep job

They’re just starting to fill this new position in the north east. It’s separate from DSD, going into gas stations etc.. Anybody have info on it? Thinking about applying so I can leave this mission one disaster.

People walk inside a gas station to get Zyns and a cold Celsius. Not to get some Oreos. This position won’t last a year

@12s Cadbury in the U.S. is distributed by Hershey for the majority of it. IRS licensing

Convenience/gas routes are cut throat and Mondelez is the bottom of the chain when it comes to market share. They want to lean on increasing market share to boost US sales as things are slipping, won’t work. Mars and Hershey rule the convenience gas market and Mondelez has such little presence. Ice worked in the sector, cutting in items etc. It’s a s@&t show and when you have the least amount of market share you don’t matter. Very hard to make an impact in the 15 minutes given for each call.

You guys are all forgetting we own Cadbury. This will be a candy position. Not cookies

@w5 it’s the store that deals with them so what difference does that make to the rep? It goes back to their distributor, not us. Some of you guys seem confused like this is DSD. Our trucks are not delivering this product.

Average store account for these reps will be close to 400.
Huge geographical area but you do a get company car.
We had these reps in the past and it lasted about a year.

Okay, let me get this straight, they want you to cover 12 stops a day, sell in product, reset, candy resets, so, that means just doing that is a 12 hour day,

I know not everything will be done on that visit, but time management will
be key success on that territory. And
store management on board their role.
This way you will “own “ your accounts.

Miss the old days, we walked in and told them what was going to happen they loved it, took pressure off their store.
Ordered it in, loaded it up. Throw a sign on it😇

Unless, these accounts are close together, travel time and finding a manager, and any problems that come up for you to handle.

I can see it now , you walk in the back room and your load will be sitting there,
Because they know you are coming in, or a banana box of stuff they moved.

How much does a package of Oreos cost
In a gas station these days?

Just a thought.

The position is basically going to a dozen gas station type accounts a day and taking care of resetting cookies/candy sections, getting new displays and counter racks in the store. Selling in new items, shippers etc…no packing out

I wouldn't take it. If it is offered to you say no. It won't last a year.

Are they wanting reps to call on independents and sell merchandising contracts? Or simply call in contracted accts?

Old timer here, could work we had them
years ago, built onto your territory, just
as long they keep out of that no pack out.

Also, if they let you write the orders, and
The sets are clean, ( not many UPC’s.)
And not a bot load of credits to write up.

Not micromanaged, and write you up
for a fig newton not on the right shelf.

Build a relationship, with the manager
Or store owner. And hopefully the
Employees don’t mess up your set.

When are they bringing back the restaurant sales rep position 🤔

Take care everyone, get the school
Buses out!! Oh, let’s not forget the holidays!

Having 300 gas stations you do no work in still sounds better than having 30 stores you have to pack out and do never ending cleanup of the “work” others did in your stores.
