As the dust settles from last week's layoffs, this is my assessment.
First, those who were laid off in many instances had 20 years or more of experience at CDW. That in itself should be revealing, considering the time you invested in earning certifications and the time spent on weekends thinking there would be a payoff, only to realize it'll never happen.
Second, the current CEO has the dubious distinction of overseeing more layoffs than any previous CEO combined! You could say staff cuts characterize the CEO's management style.
Third, and this is interesting, is the impact on DV & DX teams, which are individuals from the last significant acquisition of Sirius Computer Solutions. It was a big mistake that coworkers will ultimately be paying for.
Ultimately, CDW is a company in transition, continually striving to stay ahead of the curve. AI is showing companies how to better manage their bottom line by headcount. If not for understanding the language barrier, more jobs would likely be offshore to India.
Years ago CDW had a reputation of being a sweatshop, that changed.
