The President Orders Google, Microsoft, and Big Tech to End Hiring in India

US President Donald Trump has called on major tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and others to stop hiring overseas, particularly in India, and focus on creating jobs in the United States. At an AI Summit, Trump criticized the tech industry's "globalist mindset," accusing companies of profiting from American freedoms while outsourcing jobs abroad. He signed three executive orders aimed at advancing AI development in the US, including one to ensure politically neutral AI tools for government use and another to speed up data center construction. Trump also voiced his preference for calling AI "genius" instead of "artificial intelligence." These moves could create obstacles for Indian IT professionals and outsourcing firms if Trump is re-elected.

@pg you can't convince a bunch of disgruntled employees with facts.

Relax everyone. This is for real Tech companies to worry about, not the likes of Dell.

@pf brilliant immigrants coming here on H1-B visas don’t steal jobs, they create jobs - it has been proven over and over again. It is not a zero sum game.

@pe

I'd rather give a chance to someone here.

Companies will then fall back on where in the world can they find the best and brightest. I know that this has been done for a long time but it feels different this time. Our population needs these jobs. If you are truly competing with the world, be prepared for a good many citizens to be unemployed.

@pc H1B visa is the least of our problems. Look at every university STEM graduate program, this country desperately needs immigrants.

I agree. They won't get rid of or curtail the H1B visas. You have to wonder what will the US look like if we continue down this path. Between H1B, offshoring and AI, we don't stand a chance.

Let’s see if they do anything about getting rid of H1B visas. That’s the place to start. If they do that you’ll know they’re for real about keeping jobs in America. (Hint: They are not and won’t touch H1B because that’s how US companies get cheap labor)

Only people stupid enough trust M Dell are stupid enough to trust the bloated Orange Sloth. He thinks calling it “genius” vs “artificial intelligence” matters? But is trying to discourage the best and brightest Asian engineers from coming to the U.S.? The U.S. already dominates AI thanks to those people.

If you really listen to JD Vance's video, you will see that he isn't really condemning the practice of bringing in foreign workers. Everyone wants the best worker but if you are going to lay off people then get the best at a lower cost, what is that doing for the US. This has been going on for decades. The only way to score the administration is to see what happens at the end of the four year term. Empty comments ain't going to cut it.

Woohoo, we're all getting our jobs back. I'm still waiting for my manager to ring me and offer me my position at Dell. I'm very desperate.

@eg jobs will never come back to US. That's just a fact. USSA is lost so is Dell and many other US IT companies that are laying off en mass.

Dell, as it stands today, has more than enough resources to keep every employee in their current roles. They’re securing massive contracts—worth hundreds of millions—so there’s no shortage of funds. The truth is, they simply choose not to invest in their workforce. Instead, they’re chasing higher profit margins by outsourcing jobs and hiring cheaper labor abroad.

The work environment has become so toxic and demoralizing that even our team leader has walked away. The damage is already deep, and nothing seems able to stop the hemorrhaging right now.

But the IT sector should brace itself—there’s a reckoning on the horizon. People seem to forget the deal made during Trump’s first term under the TCJA: the promise was job creation in the U.S., but that never materialized. Instead, the repatriated corporate funds went straight into shareholder dividends, not American jobs. That betrayal is exactly what Trump and JD Vance are now using to shape their next move—and it’s gaining traction.

This hasn’t made front-page news yet, but make no mistake—this is a case of open corruption. And sooner or later, it’s going to come full circle.

The US President can't tell any company what to do. But, he can make it difficult for these companies to do business in the US if they don't follow his suggestions.

JD Vance's comments yesterday about firing 9000 people then the same company looking for oversea visas doesn't make sense to him. It's not a strong repudiation so I don't know if the administration will try and stop this.
