Thread regarding UPS layoffs

Will the Teamsters call a nationwide str-ke to make UPS negotiate deals thru Union only?

Teamsters have the power to do so. UPS should always go thru Teamsters first. If Teamsters do not str-ke they will be taken advantage of again and again. All contracts have room at the end to negotiate and add memorandums if Unions believe it benefits members. This simple step can avoid the need to str-ke.

WOW surprised they almost had to strike August 11 2025. 7 states including Worldport. It came up fast. Glad they worked it out for now. UPS is wrong in trying to go around the Union for buyouts or anything else. It is much easier to just work together than independently.

Yes, they need to strike or UPS corporate will OWN them.
Either jump or go down with the ship.

Today there was a one day str_ke at UC San Diego Health by Union employees alleging non- negotiated layoffs ,so yes it does happen sometimes.

Look back in history and see how old union car manufacturers put heavy insurance on possible str-kes or possible car recalls during times they were in financial trouble. A str-ke back then meant loads of insurance money paid to company and investors pockets got filled with money left over and for building new plants. Look today at the timing of insured car recalls always when cars are not selling hmmm......

The buyout offer should have first been negotiated thru the union. It is disrespectful to dangle money to workers hoping it may cause trouble and bad feelings towards teamster negotiators. Both parties can make a deal easily if done properly.
