PSA for My OT Crew

To anyone grinding through the chaos—just know you’re not alone. This place can wear you down, and it’s okay to admit it. Prioritize you. The stress, the silence from leadership, and the lack of care? It’s not worth your sanity.

If they treat you like you’re replaceable, treat them like they’re temporary.

Take your Mondays and Fridays seriously. Protect your peace.
And if you need help keeping that Teams bubble green while you step away:

(No shame. Just survival.)

Your health > their bottom line.🖕🖕🖕🖕

My jiggler plugs into my power strip so nothing for them to find on my laptop. I wouldn't even have one if I could set the time out value in Teams, like I used to be able to do. But having it show us offline after 5 mins is unacceptable and unfair. I mean....do they really need to know when I go to the bathroom?!?!?

I prefer a mouse jiggler like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Undetectable-Noiseless-Simulates-Realistic-Driver-Free-dp-B0DMFB5MLN/dp/B0DMFB5MLN/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Completely offline - no software or driver detection on your work PC.

It's powered over USB, and will keep your mouse moving so you don't look idle. Slap a sticker on the rotating pad if it isn't picking up the movement.

Or just put an object heavy enough to press the spacebar while on Notepad.

Just manually change the status in teams to busy or block out your calendar!

If you are planning to quiet quit, just leave this badly managed sh--e hole and find a better job. Don't taint remote workers with all the bullsh-t. There are honest remote workers juggling parenthood and work while putting in extra hours.

If you join a Teams call with yourself, it'll show you as busy, no jiggler required.

OT monitors downloads and software installs. (Former OT manager and the number of times people downloaded Steam or WoW was a non 0 number) Your boss will get an alert potentially.

You may want to consider a more analog approach. When we had remote people I know some of them built Lego robotics cradles and programmed it to move back and forth. Probably not possible in office but some fun thinking outside the box.
