Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Leadership refusing to deny more cuts coming in 2026 is telling

At this point the plan for additional 2026 cuts aren’t a secret, though nobody seems to know where they’ll be made. Leadership’s outright refusal to address the rumors one way or another tells you all you need to know about how out of touch and ineffective they’ve become. At worst they know the plan but want to hang it over our heads, at best they just don’t even know what to do next year. Either way it’s clear the additional cuts are coming. Workplace morale will continue to suffer for another year and half because they lack the integrity to tell us the truth, when doing so could potentially help most of us left here start to move on and focus on our jobs again instead of waiting for the next shoe to drop. I know I personally will be casually job hunting between now and whenever the 2026 cuts come so I’m not caught unprepared.

@f7 only thing I know for sure from HR function leaders is there will be cuts every year. So for HR, don’t get comfortable having a role ever again.

I imagine timing will be ~the same for 2026 but as always, they don’t know right now. Again, that’s just my guess.

To those who know info, spill the beans! You don’t owe this company one ounce of loyalty, so fu-k MW, and share what you know and timing. If they can lie and treat us like trash, they lose the right to demand discretion.

The lying is what gets people. They are cutting jobs in the bio plants but are trying to keep it quiet and not let them know until it’s time for them all to reapply. They don’t wanna give a notice because then people will find a new job before then. Good thing for them that some of these managers can’t help but tell people.

HR function leaders have been very clear there will be cuts next year and every year after. I’ll be running while I can still stand.

2026 would be great otherwise those of us who want a payout will just hang around wasting time for both parties. Many in ABU have been told 2028 so lots of sitting around for many bench warmers. Offering to all next year would be welcome.

Of course there will be more cuts. And then some more. And more after that. Get used to it. And get used to lying and evasion from “leadership”.
