Thread regarding Nationwide (Insurance and Financial Services) layoffs

Nationwide Pet

What’s the deal with Nationwide Pet? They seem to be hiring ( and remote at that) but it also seems like NW is laying off?

I know, huh? I have to be hardwired to my modem at all times to protect the company from viruses. Can’t work from my kitchen table and use WIFI, let alone work from Starbucks. Yet, they have no problem shipping whole business functions overseas. There must be a way they have worked that out. Until it doesn’t.

Not sure what they are hiring for. I am in Pet Claims department, and we sometimes don't have claims to process. They won't let us work from outside the U.S, even remotely, but they're sending our work to people in other countries?

@OP Pet operates as a separate business unit. It’s true that other departments are laying or have laid off due to outsourcing.

FNOL Claims are offshore. Commercial Servicing is now offshore, Personal Lines are about a month away from being fully offshore.

Processing is offshore save for a skeleton crew.

If a job is open might as well apply for it as it’s an indicator that the unit is not impacted…yet.
