Another idea, please..... please, if you can find away to pay a claim, pay it! Find any way to justify it, and pay! Pay those claims so bad it hurts! Pay Pay Pay..... They can't mess with you if it is "justified".

35 years and never been pressured to not pay a claim or to reduce a claim payment but there is truth in the argument the tools that nickel and dime the insds and clmts. The most egregious is our photo estimate options. The estimates are so far off the mark they are laughable at time at how much is missed or not covered in the original sheet. 3 Pet got us in trouble with multiple DOIs for the same reason, finding negligence where none existed because we had to put those breaches on the clmt. I had one SM who categorically stated there was comp neg to be found on every claimant. The clmt could have done something to avoid the loss. That tune changed when the r DOIs started to increase the amount of market conduct surveys. The best program we have is select service, it really is the best choice for the customer with the least number of problems and biggest protections if the shop fu--s it up. Estimatics does something calling Dripping an estimate. If it meets certain criteria, it gets held up for a reinspection of sorts to give it the once over and make suggestions about what is not needed to repair the car. We do the same with OIC sub demands, send them to a vendor to have them run through a program and cut down based on what we say is reasonable. All because our costs are too high, our premiums are too high, our claim payments are too high. To be fair, many of our competitors do the same and we are only now joining in on the party.
Well yes you are correct, we do train our people to pay claims and to find coverage! But what SF does....is now on the down low so to hide it in other ways!!!!
3PET- every claim has "comp neg" and if you do not hit a certain percentage you are performance managed. It delays the claim payment for months and we collect interest and find ways to not accept full liability. We are the only company that uses a "tool".
Pocket Estimate and Virtual Inspections- these estimate are significantly lower than our in person AEA/SS estimates. We hope the people either cash out or makes the shops eat the costs/do our work!
No Estimatics or Proximity presence .... creates delays in payments and with really "soft" estimates we make the customer/contractor/NPS prove it. Delay tactic
No staffing, incompetent employees, high claim inventories, many claims are months old, that we need to pay, again delays claim payments which we make more interest off of.
Wind/hail guidelines.....you all know we hate paying for roofs and took away TMs decision authority to pay for roofs.
CEO huge bonuses and average agent up $100,000 in comp in the last two years Merit/EIP/MIP down! We took huge rate increases, that's basically stealing.
Agree. If anything we overpay.
I've spent close to a decade in claims, never once was there any pressure to not pay claims. Most of us were trained to find coverage where ever possible. I know this doesn't fit the narrative, but then the narrative is that we don't pay so we can make investors rich, which we don't have investors its a mutual company. Not sure where this comes from.
Legit, never once had any pressure, in any department in claims to not pay or pay less. If you justify it ill gladly pay it (not my money and no bonus for not paying).
