Wouldn’t it make more sense to eliminate a handful of redundant middle management roles across these teams—positions that contribute little tangible value—rather than cutting the technical staff who are actually on the front lines doing the hard work? That approach could deliver significant cost savings without compromising the talent that’s driving real results, but what do we know?? What has happened to this once great company is unfortunate.

@y5 10000%. Middle managers are worthless these days. Especially in SMB.
According to this its just a matter of when. https://culturepartners.com/insights/where-have-all-the-middle-managers-gone/
"Not long ago, the middle manager was the linchpin of the corporate world. They juggled project management, performance tracking, and resource allocation while ensuring their teams stayed on track. Today, those responsibilities are increasingly being handed over to artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, leaving many wondering: where have all the middle managers gone? ...Let’s be honest: many middle managers aren’t contributing value; they’re actively diminishing it. A poor leader can derail entire teams, create bottlenecks, and erode morale. Streamlined hierarchies cut out the noise, leaving room for real leadership to shine. "
