Thread regarding Highmark Health layoffs

More layoffs?

Highmark WNY meeting in claims department next week to give info on departmental restructuring... Corporate email today informing the collaboration with other companies on prior auths and UM getting more streamlined. Merging Thryve with Engen (east/west) and Mick drop in June praising AI and efficiency. New union contract in NY isn't going to save any jobs.

And they’re sending jobs overseas! Just think these foreigners know your history, SSN, addresses! And for the credentialing part of it the Practitioners info is all in their hands and your SSN - addresses etc! Think about that! And don’t let Highmark lie; cause they have to send it over for that part of the job! For research and malpractice insurance and investigations! Just be aware!

So they’re laying off Americans and sending their jobs overseas! And y’all keep their insurance? They’re high deductible and excuses to not pay due to coding and/or they never rec’d your claim! Trust they find every reason to hold up or just not pay! My cataract surgery cost me over $7200 and they didn’t pay a nickel! Worst company ever! They don’t represent Buffalo or NYS!

@2c4 weve been threatened to ‘get help’ from offshore and we are all working at max capacity. I still can’t wrap my head around how any of it is legal

I believe this started over 12 years ago. Many in govt have allowed this to happen. It’s about time someone address this.

Believing that any billionaire truly cares about anyone but themselves is honestly laughable.

@2sh Exactly!! They should have to pay penalties for every position that they move offshore.

And why isn't our US government doing anything about it they are deporting people that are coming into this country yet they're allowing companies such as highmark to outsource their work from the American people making them lose their jobs how is that making America stronger.

@27a The 80/20 split is likely just a starting point. The merger signals that leadership is comfortable with, and even confident in, offshore delivery — which could incentivize a shift toward 90/10 or worse

@dv Not all. The model at least from the IT side is 80/20. There needs to be a portion of US staff to support things like gov't contracts and items that require citizenship or on shore data only.

So you’re saying they’re going to lay off all of the US workers? Is that the model?

The Thryve-Engen merger should raise serious concerns for U.S. employees. It may represent the final step in transforming Engen into an India-based outsourcing model—akin to Infosys, Tata, or Wipro—one that prioritizes low-cost visa labor over American talent.

Mick's disregard for the U.S. workforce is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
