I have been working in this industry for a few years now. Do you think we will ever live in a world without insurance and have a Direct Pay HealthCare System? Fundamentally, I find myself preferring a direct model over traditional insurance based care. Does anyone know any start-ups or companies that are looking to push a direct pay model.

Nope. Too much money and too many egos are involved. We can’t even get MDs to understand that it’s MBAs who run healthcare now, not them. Ask any high level healthcare executive and they will tell you physicians are still trying to live in the 80s. They would replace them all with NPs, PAs, and AI if they could. Like government and education, the culture in healthcare holds it back. Change is resisted at any and all cost.
