The oil patch is 24/7. We need to get rid of the 8-5 folks in a heartbeat!
Most meetings are a complete waste of time. Schedule fewer meetings and be much more selective about which meeting invitations you accept. Try to spend only a few hours a week in meetings. A good trick is to respond as Tentative and then not show up. Meetings generally ki-l productivity and most are nonsense, especially Town Hall meetings that give a platform to mo--ns and which reduce IQ

So what happens if we skip meetings?
@a2: my LM is in tons of meetings (without trying to push back) so that he/she doesn't have to get any real work done...

@ag It is.
- 25 hrs mate, according to my timesheet.
About an hour per day of actual effort.
@ag True - I covered 2.5 desks and heard the same line - you're not prioritizing your time. sometimes you need to fail and burn out at it for mgmt to realise. When I left they realised they needed 3 people to cover what I was able to manage for several years.
If you tell your manager, they’ll tell you it’s your fault for poor prioritization and poor time management.
The key is to minimize meetings. It is too easy to get su-ked into dozens of meetings each week and then not get any real work done.
