Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

How many hours do you usually work?

I can't get anything done unless I do a minimum of 60+ hour weeks. I'm tired.

The oil patch is 24/7. We need to get rid of the 8-5 folks in a heartbeat!

Most meetings are a complete waste of time. Schedule fewer meetings and be much more selective about which meeting invitations you accept. Try to spend only a few hours a week in meetings. @ag True - I covered 2.5 desks and heard the same line - you're not prioritizing your time. sometimes you need to fail and burn out at it for mgmt to realise. When I left they realised they needed 3 people to cover what I was able to manage for several years.

If you tell your manager, they’ll tell you it’s your fault for poor prioritization and poor time management.

The key is to minimize meetings. It is too easy to get su-ked into dozens of meetings each week and then not get any real work done.
