Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Consulting layoffs

Has anyone started to see layoffs in the consulting group? If you are not near or planned to be near full utilization you will be laid off very soon.

Very few layoffs in consulting in Canada so far this year. Hoping mine comes soon so I can lawyer up and cash out.

I think you've been shielded to date. Consulting has been shrinking (more than usual) for at least the last 2 years, if not 3. Consulting revenue is down -1%, and cost savings aren't improving that figure. IBM's overall revenue growth invariably lags its peers. Consulting (and Infrastructure) are, um, how to put this politely - 'facing headwinds'. If you don't make money for IBM, then expect divestiture, mass reorganisation, or similar. As I advised my team when the writing was on the wall - you can hang around for a possible RA and face the prospect of finding a new job then, or be proactive and start looking now for that next step in your career.

Not even a bi-annual process anymore, a continuous one now.
