I was let go in 2025. I cannot begin to tell you how awesome life is now that I no longer work for such a toxic company (enGen). It wasn’t always this terribly toxic although was always cute throat once we merged with PGH. I would say it became seriously toxic within the last 15 years. I can be thankful for the fact that I worked as long as I did, was able to save a decent amount of money for my ‘forced’ retirement, and had a pension (actually 2 pensions). Yes, it can be very scary once you’re let go especially when you weren’t expecting it, but once you’re past that scary part and see what you’ve pulled together from so many years of service, you actually revel in the thought that you no longer have to work there. I just hope and pray everyone that was let go has been able to find a new way and are surviving.

I agree I also was laid off in early 2025, from a very toxic job, the uppers all say they care about their employees and behind their backs they're crossing their fingers because they're liars, they want us to be healthy and happy and take a break if we needed it, they don't want us to become mentally challenged, yet behind the scenes, upper management is telling everybody below them to work us to the Bone and threatening that if we don't perform they'll be consequences I was working 7 days a week most weeks, and yet supervisors managers and directors wanted more. I actually was relieved that I was let go because it started a new life with a lot of less stress in my life and my blood pressure even went down. And I started my retirement and feel relieved I no longer have to work for a company that really doesn't care about their employees though they profess that they do. I fell for their false company meetings. All I can say is I'm glad I no longer work there
I was also let go earlier this year. While being unemployed is not ideal, especially in this economic climate, it has allowed me to enjoy some time to just BREATHE. For me, it was almost a relief that it happened, after all the rumors and wondering if my area would be hit next. Now it's over and I move on to the next chapter of my work life. Hopefully with a company that actually values it's employees.
I'm truly happy for you and wish you all the best in this next chapter. After years of hard work, you’ve earned the chance to rest and enjoy life.
At the same time, I can’t help but think of those still facing hardships—former colleagues struggling to find work, and others stuck in toxic environments that slowly wear them down. It often happens so gradually that people don’t realize the toll it’s taking until it’s too late. They feel trapped—financially, emotionally, or both—and it’s a situation no one should have to endure.
Wishing you peace, fulfillment, and well-deserved joy ahead.
Ooops! enGender is supposed to read "enGen". Dang that auto-correct!!! ;-)
Congratulations!!! From one former HM Health Solutions (predecessor to enGender) to another, I would agree, it IS a good feeling to be away from that environment. I used to work in Open Systems (UNIX/Linux) (under Don M), then moved to Audit Support (under Ed M), then all he-l broke loose when we got su-ked in to Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) under Brad C and Omar K in early 2014. Four and a half years of that toxic cr-p before leaving in 2018. Hoping that others are able to enjoy the feeling of "freedom" as we have!!!
