Yes, he is all about getting er done!!!
Fridays bump in the market was another indicator that he’s making great policy decisions.
Like him or not, you’ve got to give Trump credit; he’s only been President for less than 200 days, and look at all the things he’s already accomplished in such a short period. You might not agree with his policies, but no one can accuse Trump of being ineffectual.
Wow, looks like our resident self indulgent pragmatist was right on, S&P approaching record high based on today’s CPI data and rate cuts are a high probability. So glad to have been graced with your economic wisdom. Do us all a favor and continue on with your 5th grade folly of humor seeing how it only adds to your economic credibility.
I know it su-ks when the winning team continues to do just that, but I digress.
@s6 its not really the labor, its the tool and die and process skillset availability needed for volume and changes. You can always find people to pack cartons, (even work release programs if costs are a concern, just to prove that paint).
Search for Smarter Every Day's YT video about making a 100% Made in USA Grill Scrubber, its really fascinating.
it's not just the worker's wages. it's the technology, skills, and culture the workers have overseas that workers inside the US just don't and won't have.
try manufacturing something in the US. forget other factors for a second, and say you just need 100 things. you won't be able to find a vendor in the US to do it, unless you order 10,000 units. go overseas, they'll make you 100 or 1000. you want just 10 units, they'll do it at the roughly same cost per unit.
There's no way manufacturing will come back to the U.S. If you think that it will, you're delusional. U.S. factory workers make over $25 per hour to start. Labor costs would drive the prices up more than the effect of the tariffs ever will. It's still cheaper to manufacture and just move the equipment from country to country, paying workers the lowest possible wage. Mattel already can't find people to fill positions, imagine trying to hire hundreds of factory workers!
Tariffs just an excuse to improve margin for this dying industry.
Sorry I didn't know if that was meant to be a joke or meant to be serious. But yeah I do think FP might be making some stuff in EA but it's a tiny portion of their portfolio.
Most of it is overseas and Mexico.
And really tho who still buys fisher price nowadays?
Let's face it manufacturing ain't coming back and it's a tired old argument why. It has to do with your cost of goods going up because of the cost of labor etc etc. but you can look this all up yourself.
The truth of the matter is that retailers are increasing prices of toys period. If they have to pay for whatever big beautiful tariffs are at the port at any given day the stable genius deems it then the retailers will set the shelf price to try to re-coup some of that. Manufacturers will try to offset that with some haggling at the onset but there's only so much you can do. But you get what you vote for. And when sales don't pan out yes, you will see lay-offs. Plain and simple. That equation is as old as time.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
People pretend that it’s an impossibility to manufacture toys in the United States, but Fisher-Price was still manufacturing toys in New York as recently as 1997. That wasn’t that long ago. Lots of things are made in the US, no reason toys can’t be made here (in fact many companies still do manufacture toys in the US).
I'm still waiting for the first toy factory to open up on US soil again. Because manufacturing jobs are coming back 'murica.
The sky is falling.
