Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I saw the reorg as an opportunity

Or rather, the final straw. I left the industry entirely two months ago. Got lucky and landed an engaging role at a small company. Sure, the pay’s lower, but there’s no amount of money that can buy the peace of mind I have now. Don’t let those a--holes drag you into the drama or make it feel existential. There are other options. They might not look perfect at first glance, but give them a real look, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I started here in downstream and used to these, always turned into an opportunity for me. When you start to see who has been left standing and who stayed, you can easily distinguish the behaviors of each of those groups...

look - reorgs are an amazing opportunity to step over the fallen and grab a grade or more. Look at the RM leader who thrived during the last re-org after he navigated through his covered up failed dr-g test.

I’ve always treated Chevron as just another job, no different from working with a contractor. Never expected anything from them and never listened to their bullsh-t. Ultimately, it meant none this bothered me personally. I do hate the way they have treated and hurt their other employees though. They pay reasonably well, but generally a sh---y company to work for these days.

I found another role at a competitor only two weeks after the fake PDC ended. Pay is comparable and it's a great project. I can now focus on what I was actually paid to do at Chevron instead of spending time on worthless talent cards, powerpoints of myself, and selection reps who couldn't give a F--k about my career.
