Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Worked at Anthem for five years

I was laid off in 2019, and I see nothing has changed since then. Same old song - squeeze workers dry to enrich executives, cut as many as possible, and pretend that somehow it will save the company or improve the bottom line. It never does. My advice to you fine folks: start looking elsewhere. If that place hasn’t improved by now, it never will.

@OP The only thing that changes is our company name. Look for HR name to change to the industry buzz words of “People Officer.” It is only a matter of time before we spend money on internal name changes to keep employees off balance so we focus on something other than how bad the company really is doing. We should be on Comedy Central.

@bq You do realize this site covers thousands of companies, including the one I work at now, right? I don’t come here nearly as often as I used to, but when I do, I’ll sometimes check this board too, just to see how things are going at my old job. Why is that so hard to understand?

Thanks for the advice. Gone since 2019 and still on this board. Great insight.

@ad hopefully your couple million dollar unearned salary will soften the blow of plummeting stock. Way too much money given to inept barely functioning “leaders”

Got that right. Was just on the other company Boards like this one and same things everywhere. I’m bracing for what BBB does to us all. Will be a lot of people uninsured and that’s not good for anyone.

I’m not sure tech industry is any better reading what’s going on there

Got out in 2019. Good for you. If you are still in the industry then feels like grass is brown everywhere. Time to change industries and apply skills to something else.

@ad 20 million salary is pretty enriching regardless of the drop in stock price. Plus I think Gail cashed in some stock before it tanked so I think she’s still getting pretty enriched.
