If you hate COP so much, why are you still working here?

I am genuinely curious. Why you want to be in a place where you are so unhappy?

You haven’t been able to find another job?

As a retiree, they had “golden handcuffs” on me at the end. That said, I saw a lot of executive management up close and personal at the end, and it’s like the sausage factory. These “leaders” only care about building their long term wealth and do not care about anything else. The level of incompetence and self-centeredness is staggering. If you saw what I saw you’d be complaining here, also. This is not the company I was hired by.

Its easy to stay, its tougher to go to a new company where you have to work hard, learn new things, prove yourself once again.

The important question is, how can we remotivate people who have been around here for 5+ years? How do we get the gitty-up back in all our knowledgeable, experienced workers? It is easy to become cynical over the years when you watch high ratings go to not those that are the most committed to their work, but those that produce something flashy even if the depth isn't there. You don't get recognized for working harder or saving the company money. The incentive is to do a decent job, work 40 hours, and just collect a paycheck. Maybe that is just where the employee lifecycle of an old company is. Its challenging to get the buzz that is surrounding companies that are all running in the same direction to grow the company as quickly as possible.

When you get a 4 or 5 rating, you blame the company and everyone around you for being the problem.

I stay for the beautiful offices with windows looking out over the ponds and gardens. I love taking walks on the trails through the grounds before swimming laps in the pool. I enjoy playing soccer and making new friends. And the yearly retreats and training at Purple Sage Ranch are so productive and relaxing. Being able to work for an innovative company with a deep sense of culture and history makes me proud to work here. I enjoy the diversity of work available in so many locations around the world in the upstream, downstream and midstream segments of our industry. And the people especially management are so experienced, knowledgeable and understanding.
