Personal LOA might be an option. Your job is not federally protected (it does not fall under FMLA), but it is available under certain conditions. The insideTGT info is a bit cryptic about what those certain conditions were, but I submitted for a month-long personal LOA earlier this year and was accepted.
A LOA? I have seen people take them. You use up your PTO first and then it is unpaid for a period of time where your job is not backfilled. Haven’t seen one since before the company started tanking in 2022, but there is still information up on insideTgt
Ask HR. In four decades I’ve never seen one.
