Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

thinking of long term

Nike got Gen Xers check. Big part of Nike's growth in 80s and 90s
Nike got Gen Yers check
Nike got Gen Zers check
Nike got Millenials hmmmmm... Not really. They grew up with Vans, Converse(part of Nike now) and other myriad of brands that is more minimalistic feel than over the top the $300.00 Nike Air Maxes. These guys are really not into this kind of shoes, big majority of them.
Nike do not have MZers. I admit that this kids are little different but in their sphere, Nike does not exist. Only thing that matters to them is iphone and marihuana.

I am Gen xers and I will be gone from this world in 10 years or 20.
And for future of Nike, what would happen to Nike when they come to age where they buy shoes? Will they cough off all their earnings(if they work) on $300 Nikes? Or Air Jordan 11? The guy last played when their daddy was in high school?

Hello? Upper management people? Are you there?

I did not say anything about Nike's size. Nike still have market share.

What I am talking about is Nike's relevance with young kids or kids of future who will be the buyer of expensive product in the future and target for Nike's marketing campaign.

Seems like Nike is concerned with looking good for Wall Street so that they remain in DJ30

That is not JDI spirit.

This makes no sense. Gen Y and Millennials are the same thing.

when we were young in the 80s and 90s, Nike was in the many children's Christmas wish list. They wanted Bo Jackson, Barkley, Jordan, Pippen, Griffey or any Nike basketball shoes for their Christmas gift. (that is when bball shoes was big)

How many teens and pre teens today have Nike in their wish list?
Maybe some but nothing significant.

How many chidlren's eyes get big and excited when they hear name Nike? like back in the days? Not that many.

If Nike does not convince and attract MZers then there is no future for Nike 10, 20 years down the line, not today. That is all I am saying.

First Nike was massive with millennials, so clearly you aren’t in brand, marketing, or product.

Second, younger generations aren’t brand loyal and yes we are thinking about them and per all studies Nike is still #1 for those generations by a landslide.

We are literally twice the size of our next largest competitor. We are just losing slight share in key categories and in order to stay on the offense we are making moves before the game gets close
