Thread regarding UKG / Ultimate Kronos Group / Ultimate Software Group Inc. layoffs

One year ago today I was handed my walking papers

On July 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. I received an email notifying me that I was being let go after seven years of great performance reviews. One year later, I am so very thankful. I am now working in a different industry with people who respect and value me - the complete opposite of UKG. They kicked me out of the nest and I could not be happier!

@bwr I hear and sympathize with you. I was so appreciative of my direct manager and really enjoyed working with my teams. The layoff took me, and my manager, by complete surprise. It was obvious that UKG was clearing the decks of experienced professionals to make way for younger, cheaper, hires. They were looking for millions of dollars to devote to AI development and it was an easy way to achieve that.

I encourage you to look at industries outside of traditional tech. I was toying with retirement and applying to jobs to keep up with the requirements for my unemployment benefits when I landed an amazing job in a completely different industry. I am respected and seen as an innovator. I've turned the challenges I conquered at UKG into insights at my new organization. You can too!

Well, I guess I'll be the contrarian voice. After last July I had a short contract gig to tie me over a bit, but now solidly out of work for 3 months with no prospects. While everyone reviewing my resume is telling me they're shocked I can't find work, even people I've just met who have hired my role in the past and can be objective. I know the U Krew wasn't great, but I was hoping to spend another 10 years there. I got to work with friends, and I really liked the HR/WFM domain. Instead, I got kicked out into the worst job market of my career.

I retired just before the purge. I agree the integration was a sh-t show. Dont miss trying to sell what i could not show.

Layoff was a gift to me. Was so burned out, had a manager who wasn’t good at development (they got cut too), and the UKG-Kronos integration was total sh*t. It was clear that tech problems would just continue to multiply and that the support teams would never get out from under the thousands of cases that were created as a result.

Last time I was at a company like that, they were acquired by a company that knew how to fix those problems. Same thing will happen with UKG. It’s been five years ffs! Get it together.
