There’s a lot of anger and frustration with the Matt and Mark across EMEA over how AM, our VP of Sales, has been treated. After hitting all his Q1 & Q2 targets this year and showing years of loyalty, he’s been sidelined by the CRO—sending the wrong message that success at Appian isn’t valued. It’s disheartening to see someone who was appointed by Matt himself now left out in the cold, especially after delivering such strong results. The CRO’s bullying behavior on forecast calls hasn’t helped morale, and it’s a real shame that Matt hasn’t stepped in to support someone who he appointed and delivered results and who’s done so much for this company. Employees now know that loyalty counts for nothing here, and I suspect Matt will come to regret not standing by Americo. On top of that, the CRO has now appointed what looks like two leaders for Northern EMEA—an VP and an AVP—completely undermining the promise of a flatter structure that Matt himself championed. And let’s not forget Matt’s assurances that we’d promote and hire from within the organization—that’s clearly gone out the window. It’s such a shame, and I’m truly disappointed in Matt’s lack of resolve and courage to stand by his word.

MD noticed AM eying the CRO position and quickly took him out, nothing to be frustrated about.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Yo, what's with all the hate??
I would like to point out that you’re misusing that metaphor. Rats leaving ships is a sign that the ship is about to have trouble. They don’t stay on ships. So technically the people who left are the rats. It’s the sailors who are left behind to sink.
@12g who are you talking about, for instance?
@128 there are loads of rats in EMEA who will never leave, or most likely won’t get a role anywhere else!
As Matt so passionately declared in his manifesto, Appian should be promoting from within. Naturally, every single hire since then has been external. Leadership really took that to heart, bravo! It's almost impressive how consistent they are at doing the exact opposite of what they say. At this rate, it's less of a company and more of a sinking ship… and of course, the great people are the first to jump off. The rats seem quite comfortable staying aboard.
EMEA’s decline was highlighted previously on this forum. Leadership was needed yet nowhere to be found. AM built his own career for years, purely focused on numbers instead of building a solid team and culture that would last.
Similar to Matt he only cared about himself.
Matt playing AM like this is a shot below the belt but if anything it shows the true colors of Matt and his co-founders.
Appian was never about culture or values, just Matt’s ego. In a highly competitive landscape where big clients are now moving away from Appian, EMEA’s presence will slowly fade.
The 3 incoming suits will not be able to turn this ship around, better update that CV and look elsewhere.
RW is next, after that expect regional DIRs and Managers.
Appian is a joke. If you haven’t left or have a plan to leave, you’re part of the joke.
@d9 Americo has got what he deserved! Good riddance!
Matt is a boardgame GOD for a reason ladies and gentleman, well played!
Matt's decision to bring AM on as VP of Sales was a tactical move. AM, always prioritizing his own interests, eagerly took the bait and accepted the role to advance his career.
While the division appeared to meet its targets, it was the dedicated EMEA team that truly drove the results. This period saw numerous departures, as employees either chose to leave or were encouraged to do so by AM, largely due to his leadership approach. Despite the chaos, AM looked to be on track for SVP until MD intervened and facilitated his exit.
Nice guy, not a leader. Thank you for your service AM.
Dorsey is now systematically destroying the Sales org at Appian, just like he did at Alteryx: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1sqKqr7F
As the other comment said, no sympathy for AM. Very competent guy, but as a leader he's nowhere to be seen, whether in CS or Sales.
Let’s be honest here. The sales success is not because of Americo, nice guy absent leader. He should never have got the role in the first place.
Matt doesn’t care about culture or people he wants results to boost his ego, ultimately this is the right move!
