Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I get being frustrated with Chevron, but wishing for it to fail?

That just hurts everyone. Better to push for real change than cheer for collapse. A lot of families rely on this place, even if it’s far from perfect.

@e5 agree completely. McKinsey is the most corrupted and incompetent of them all. The Jon Oliver segment sums them up nicely if you haven’t seen it. They make money no matter what they tell the leaders to do. We could have the perfect workflow in place and it just needs time to iron out the wrinkles and realize it’s full potential. McKenzie and others won’t make money if they don’t analyze it and tell us not to change it. Funny how they never tell us about the look back and compare the cost of not making the change to making the change after a year in. We also don’t hear much about losses due to retraining, enterprise knowledge loss, and other factors that can’t fit into their fancy metrics. Then we just hear about new changes meant to fix the last fu-k ups with new buzz words, lol.

i don't want it to fail and am grateful for the time and money I've had here. But their over reliance on consulting firms (that have a terrible track record of "helping companies") is leading to the company's downfall. Feels like we're going to become the next Shell or BP, which are husks of former selves. It also feels like an oligarchy now with executives who are very out of touch with reality. Sad.

I dont hope for the company to fail. But its clear that Chevron is a declining company. You cannot make bad decisions consistently and succeed.

No way they will have the same trust from employees they once enjoyed. You can’t do this to people and expect 110% going forward. No way.

All signs point to divestment.

With all due respect, the message we members of the workforce are getting is that for leadership to succeed, we need to lose our jobs. It’s hard to root for the team that wants to crush you.
