Just heard word that for some departments, the hiring freeze will continue until the beginning of 2027.

Think the freeze is being proactive or looming fall/winter RIF?

@19w like I said I think it’s all RS and hands on labor. For anything else, we know who it’s going through, I think they’re approving anything they think will speed up production or is absolutely necessary. No one else is hiring for anything so I’m stuck waiting for stuff to open up. Idk how much longer I can’t wait before I rage quit.

@j8 the question you need to ask is, how are the reqs that do get posted determined and who is making that determination? Is it the LT for that BU or is HR making those decisions, and if it is how ?

Hiring freeze has unofficially been in place since October/November of 2023. I’ve been checking the job board everyday for months waiting to see things open up. The only reqs being posted are RS and other hands on labor. There are the occasional reqs posted that aren’t. I haven’t heard anything about layoffs, honestly don’t see it happening. Idk how people aren’t quitting just from taking on additional workload or reporting to people way above their pay grade. Seems like management is doing everything they can to get people to leave with out having the PR nightmare of another layoff.

The hiring freeze is old news. It's no longer officially in place, although it is still going to be difficult for new jobs to get posted. Unfortunately there is always going to be murmurs of layoffs because the management here is beholden only to Wall Street, but we will never know officially until they start getting rolled out, or if someone has a connection to that level of management.
