@mg. "mean middle schoolers"

hahahaha... you nailed it. bonus star for you. I can't remember what that silly "give a star to someone" program was called from like 10 years ago or I'd say that.

Had to move but got a better title, slightly higher pay, insanely better culture & leadership, and am happier. Took about 6 months of active searching to land with 4 of those months including the interview process for the new gig.

Took almost a year and I had to relocate my family. It’s a promotion but all things considered a bit lower pay. Happy with the company and job though (non tech)
If I was stuck in Pdx area, I would have needed a major step down or career change

Yes. Took me 6 months to find something but I’m in a much better place now. Pay is a little lower but I get to work with actual professionals and not a pack of mean middle schoolers. I don’t miss the Nike cliques or drama at all.

Was employed within a month with more money, less stress. Better company culture. Not trying to boast, just telling others there is hope.

Nope. Devil you know vs the devil you don’t. Make more money but the job isn’t what I had hoped.

I had the opportunity to stay and assume a new role outside of my expertise due to mindless reorganizations dictated by a third party who viewed employees as mere job codes and numbers (which are completely flawed, by the way) or take a package. I took the package. As a result, I received a substantial pay increase, career progression, remote work, and the best part is, there’s no “good old boys and girls” club. While the focus was on unwinding the men being part of this club (historically), it still exists, but it’s now spread across the new “Diverse” group of leaders.

I’m completely happy with my departure from Nike. While I love the brand, the leadership is the issue.

No. 15 months later and still nothing. If you're over age 50, the professional/techish job market is effectively closed to you. Ageism is very real, and nobody cares that you worked at a sneaker company. I'm invisible to employers despite 20+ years of hands-on experience and a master's degree. I expect that NKE will be the last "professional" (office) job I'll ever have. At least I'm handy with a wrench. Looking into skilled trades for my next "career."

From the people I know, majority is employed (>85%) but it took well >6-9 months to get there. Compensation is lower mostly due to benefits. Almost no remote jobs, so a lot of people left to new locations or travel on their account. Out of the employed ones, descent satisfaction, and a sense Nike had too many people pulling different directions. It’s a biased sample, but out of the people that was in global, most tell me they like their new job more better.

Better base. Bigger bonus target. Worse benefits. My advice is to create your case studies now while you’re still working at Nike. Storytelling more important than ever in interviews.

I found one right after, more base pay, less variable comp.

Overall 15% pay cut but feel more accomplished and less bullied. And feel working on more relevant things vs keeping busy with priorities no one believed in...
