First round of Sharp layoffs will begin Monday June 30th, with more rounds most likely to come soon after. They will disguise the layoffs as putting people on “administrative leave” as the attempt to avoid legal or financial obligations (like severance, WARN Act notice, or unemployment claims). Very shady.

@th that seems pretty standard actually, when I was laid off from a previous employer, they did the same thing. If you don’t sign, you can keep your legal rights, but you’ll forfeit any additional severance.
Interesting just received the email from HR. Sounds like you give up any legal rights.
Voluntary Settlement and Release Agreement will be sent to your
personal email on July 15, 2025, via DocuSign. That email communication will include specific instructions on how to sign the document through DocuSign between September 2 and September 9,2025.
@sk well this IS the sharp experience
@t3 We’re just “numbers” to SHARP just like patients are “lives” in their bank account.
@t9 just say you're a bootlicker. BOOTLICKER!
@t4 well their ommunications vp was let go as well
I’d blame the push for the union that happened last year. Everyone wanted more money, now the organization has to find a way to provide that money!
@t5 have you reached out to Union? Drea is looking for the 6 RNs that were laid off today. Pls give her a call.so sorry to hear about you losing your job.
I heard few nurse today unfortunately I was one of them
@s0 uhhhh with WARN notice you have to provide a notice period. That’s why we are getting paid until Sept. they have to give us notice when it’s a large layoff. I went and read up on it. How is that circumventing? Don't get me wrong, I’d rather keep my job than get laid off. I’m still in disbelief this is happening.
Sharp memorial I heard few nurses , unfortunately I was one
RE: the CBS8 article,
I am outraged, and I survived these layoffs. Whomever wrote Sharp's PR on these layoffs is an id--t who should be fired, because they just opened a can of worms.
Sharp clearly went in the opposite direction of UCSD; where UCSD targeted clinicians, Sharp targeted non-clinicians. What kind of message is this sending to the people watching? That non-clinicians are less important than clinicians? That they don't work as hard as clinicians? That they're more expendable than clinicians?
This messaging devalues the contributions of non-clinicians in serving as backend patient care support. Where do clinicians get their medications? From non-clinical pharmacy technicians and couriers that deliver them. Where do clinicians monitor a patient's chart or review their eMAR? On systems non-clinicians setup. Where does the system as a whole gain their revenue? From non-clinicians that bill patients appropriately to make sure there's no loss due to incorrect charges—which happens all the time.
By mentioning specifically that non-clinicians were targeted in these layoffs—in some misguided hope to diminish the notion that patient care is not being neglected—they have essentially admitted that non-clinicians are expendable assets and that there is no bridge that gaps direct patient care from indirect patient care.
I don't support unions, especially SEIU that bargains for the technical and non-professional staff, but I hope they eviscerate Sharp on this dichotomy of professions where some are more expendable than others. If they were smart, they would have intermixed these layoffs so to create a more balanced optic. What a shame, and I hope they pay for it.
I got "let go" last month without seeing it coming or warning. An RN with almost 20 yrs with Sharp...let me be the first to tell you that they absolutely do not value you as an employee. You are just a number to them and they definitely view you as replaceable. It's really unfortunate.....
I was absolutely shocked this morning when I got the 8 am last min meeting! I asked if it was based on performance “ NO”….been at sharp for over 7 yrs thought it was safe place to ride into the sunset. Know many subordinates and peers that have been sharp for over 20yrs and was their only job! I wish I had more answers on the selection process. Hang in there everyone!
@sz the cafeteria was badly needed. The rest was a vanity project.
@sz Ivory Tower for sure.
How about the building they built for themselves that barely gets used and they rent out here/there. O sure "donors" help pay for it. Waste of money. So many poor financial decisions.

The poor patients to realize they can't get help in time or accurately.
I wonder how big the death toll will get after this 🤔
@sh That's what I want to know
@sb And the Union couldn’t save our jobs either. I tried getting work doing same type of work outside of Sharp. As RN’s we got paid well for call center work and I feel we deserved it. But salaries outside was nothing compared to Sharp. I was shocked at call center RN salaries. I came back before one year was up when NC closed for the benefits and I work in a non bargaining role. Too old to retrain for bedside nor did I want to. Yeah I took a pay cut but at least I’m still working with benefits which I badly need until I retire. Can’t afford to pay union dues and really got nothing for it.
@sr absolutely he does not respect employees just his fat paycheck...
@se DON'T TRUST Christopher McGlone (COO of SCMG and CEO of Metis Practice Solutions) is a two-faced hypocritical POS.
@re Epic su-ks. The company is all about IP-protection and the ghetto Wisconsin disneyland. People don't even make a blip on the radar. It's an ecosphere of vender lock in and dependency through secrecy.
@sj Yes. I need my insurance due to medical issues and confirmed with HR. You may just want to confirm for your own comfort. I need to hear it with my own ears and I emailed for confirmation of my understanding and asked for a confirmation reply. I need documentation for planning. This su-ks.
@sj yes the medical insurance is active until Sept 30th.
@s1 Depends on the severance policy. Based on years at Sharp. I’m starting to look for work now and not waiting until Sept since we are getting paid through then. I want to know what management is getting laid off. If Sharp is that bad off, CEO better be cutting those management bonuses we all know they get every year.
Ever since Mike Murphy retired and Chris Howard become CEO there have been really bad financial decisions. The Sharp culture changed dramatically when he came in. It was all business first…no longer cared about the employees or patient care. This is just the result of all this. Yes, things are happening like Medicaid issues etc but this is primarily a result of poor leadership all the way to the top. The total disregard of long term employees tossed out like garbage is the true Sharp Experience.
Inpatient clinical Pharmacist here! Got the call a few hours ago and still shocked since I didn’t see this coming. I worked so hard and sacrificed family life to help patients and staffing needs. Just confused since we were always so short staffed how this will be good for patient care? If they are giving us until Sept 2, does this mean I will have medical insurance until end of September?
@sg so SCMG entity is laying off individuals as well?
I was at SCMG and got let go today…this doesn’t seem real I thought I’d be a lifetime Sharp employee
From an IT department here and got laid off this morning. The VP who also got laid off handled it so coldly.
The call was over In 3 min and she read off a script simply saying our services are no longer needed , we will be paid until Sept, we will get more information in the mail and they will send us a box to return our equipment (free of charge).
We worked our butts off for this organization over the past few years to get Epic running and worked here for decades.
Not even a thank you or acknowledgement of our services. It did not sit well.
Majority let go was TAC team/related. There was also some random positions let go as well. Was also told couple hundred more are expected in next week or so.
Well with all these layoffs. All of our patients are gonna die soon. Good job sharp. Taking very good care of your patients. I hope you burn down to the ground
Just got laid off today
Inpatient pharmacy
It su-ks I stayed here in Sharp Grossmont because I thought it was a stable job.
Learnt my lesson
@s8 Tom Smith
Sounds all too familiar.
They fired a guy from SHARP, hired him as the VP of IT for Metis Practice Solutions - part of SHARP Community Medical Group (SCMG), and put the IT Manager on administrative before firing him for BS reasons.
@ry who is your VP
@r7 technical lab assistants
@s3 Is this the CAC team
