First round of Sharp layoffs will begin Monday June 30th, with more rounds most likely to come soon after. They will disguise the layoffs as putting people on “administrative leave” as the attempt to avoid legal or financial obligations (like severance, WARN Act notice, or unemployment claims). Very shady.

Class Action Lawsuit against Sharp? Any lawyers out there think there's a case against them?
@11b who is the current TAC manager? Curious minds would like to know
@x3 severance break down is SH-T!
Tac manager let go top performers and kept his friends that are lazy and d-mb. They all produce the less but make the most since they’ve been around for so long. You got to get in good with management if you want to keep your job.
Just retired. Boy am I glad I'm out of that place. It got really bad the last few years.You're just a number, a body. They don't care about their employees like they used to. I'm sorry for everyone that was let go. The Sharp Experience is a JOKE.
@yx There have been rumors circulating that Metis Practice Solutions' IT team will be taking over support for SCMG's private practices, which were previously managed by the Connect Team. This is reportedly why Tom Smith was brought in. SCMG/Metis did the previous IT Manager dirty.
Severance package is sh-t! They really don’t care.
Less than 1 year - 1 week severance pay
1 - 4 years - 2 weeks
5 - 9 years - 3 weeks
10 - 15 years - 4 weeks
16 - 20 years - 5 weeks
20+ years - 6 weeks
It’s in Reorganization of Work Force policy that you will receive via FedEx
@vt 18 years here.
@wz Palomar's CEO Diane Hansen is a lot worse....she laid off hundreds of staff over two years, then took hefty bonuses each year after the lay-offs!
The more I read responses the more upset I get. Administrative leave is bullsh-t! No access to your computer to capture personal data (non proprietary). No ability to say farewell to coworkers and friends or staff. Years of work that can ever access?! It feels like a backhand slap and emotions are up and down. The sharp experience was not exercised in this process!
I worked clinical appeals and our whole department was eliminated. There were four RNs that got laid off.
my SO works in Supply Distribution @ Grossmont and her department was hit by layoffs she survived so i guess it's good but many people were devastated (300 as reported in the news)
I work at another hospital in SD that’s been doing layoffs in waves over the past few months. HR was outsourced to a company in the Midwest. They cut a lot - it's broad - CNAs, consultants, temps, managers, directors... no one was really safe. You’ve got to keep your head on a swivel all the time. I almost left for another local hospital, but somehow made it through the layoff rounds. Layoffs su-k, no doubt about it.
From what I’ve heard, they let go of the entire Professional Billing and Patient Access staff, and plan to replace them with consultants.
10 of us were let go (Facilities Maintenance and Development), I heard 300 total
i got let go today from the srn side. a lot of trainers, scheduling folks, and front office staff were let go too. my friend was an admin support, she was let go as well (sharp memorial)
i’m on the social work team. heard today that a case manager from our department got laid off.
SCMG Connect here, we were all let go on my team with the exception of one individual.
Any Patient Service Reps here - what's the damage? I left in 2023 and I wish you all good luck.
They’re outsourcing our IT roles to teams in India.
Many of us, who typically earn $25 to $35 / hr, are now training our replacements.
In return, we’re being asked to sign NDAs and offered an additional severance payment to stay quiet and help with the transition.
The new hires are reportedly being paid between under $20/hr.

does anyone know how the laboratory has been affected across SMH / SCV / SGH / Copley / Coronado Hospital?
Spent the day requesting college financial appeal status form for my daughter attending in college in august and fine tuning my resume …wow how quickly life changes! pro tip ….use MS copilot! I’m almost done!
@rw is the severance going to be separate from what they will be paying until 9/2?

@vx Agree...the Sharp Experience was Mike Murphys babt and should have left with him when he retired. This Chris "Coward" should have never been given the reigns to continue The Sharp Experience...not a true leader to follow.
Is anyone planning to consult with legal services that handle employment?
@vt a bit over 20 years
@vt 26+ years for me
This town hall meeting is a JOKE!!! They took talking points straight out of Severance.
@vs IRS Rule of 55 applies in your situation. Google it, after 40 years of employment you're probably better off than you think ;)
@vz IT was hit hard, but there are still quite a few people left. The Renvenue team took the brunt.
Seems like the entire IT team (Epic team) is gone, which is interesting because it seems like Tri City is implementing Epic through Sharp. https://thecoastnews.com/tri-city-agrees-to-partner-with-sharp-healthcare/
@sk I agree! The culture changed significantly when Chris came in. Nothing like the way Mike Murphy, Ky Lewis and Dan Gross's leadership. They were about the employees.
Just curious...how many of those that have been laid off are employees with more than 10-15 yrs vested in Sharp?
@sy I am a 40 year Sharp employee and laid off yesterday. I blame Trump's "Great Big Beautiful Bill" and the impending cutes to Medicaid/Medical as this is ~ 30% of our pt population. I also feel that since Mike Murphy and Dan Gross retired, the organization is not the same. Of the 4 in my dept laid off, we are all over 55 years old. A sad day for me.
Devastating!! Rough time when other hospitals are doing the same. Private health insurance is so expensive, especially with ongoing medication and medical needs. Not easy to pick up and find similar benefitted employment elsewhere.
Are more layoffs expected this week/month? Any idea what the criteria is, i.e. recent hires, part-time, per diem, higher paid employees, those closer to retirement age? Doesn't seem performance based.
Such a blow to the healthcare community and those seeking and receiving care. Will shift the already heavy workload, concerned about mistakes, injuries, safety. So much pressure to do more with less time.
