No, it doesn’t get paid out unless your state mandates it. It does get paid out if you retire, however. This changed after the last really big layoff.

No. My L4 coworker got laid off and she had so much PTO she saved up to take her honeymoon. So was sc--wed over.
No Target does not pay out PTO at the end of employment for HQ or non exempt employees. This is due to L6 and higher roles getting “unlimited” vacation.
Cause how do you pay out unlimited vacation anyway?
I believe after the mass 2014 layoffs it was changed. Now, unless mandated by State law, only those who would be considered a retiree from a “layoff” (reduction in work force) would receive their unused vacation pay.
It's guaranteed only if your state mandates it, I believe. Target can also choose to pay it out but knowing the financial situation we're in I would doubt it.
