Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

UnitedHealth - back in office 4 days/week!

UnitedHealth’s new CEO is moving away from remote and hybrid work. Hopefully Centene doesn’t follow their lead.

Will you quit or take significantly less money to avoid any sort of in-office requirement?

I would have to quit, they closed the office closest to me.

They are counting on you quitting when they do it.

wouldn’t like it after 5 years of WAH but I wouldn’t quit. that said I don’t think Centene would do this - too much money has been saved on office space etc.

I took a lot less money for a remote job here. I still have my connections at my old place, and would probably bounce if they made us come in office. That was the main advantage of me accepting the offer here opposed to a few others. Outside of StL do they have space in other offices to bring people back in?

It also bothers me when companies like this bring in "some" employees and if you just happen to be living somewhere else you can stay remote (seems like UH is doing this). Often what ends up happening is you go to an office with few (if any) employees you work with, so it really is a waste of time to be in the office.

I’m 2 hours away from an office and so are many of my coworkers…I don’t see Centene doing it, especially since they sold a ton of their real estate…plus my department were all remote way way before COVID because we are all over the country…

I am close to retirement and would hold out as long as possible. Being stuck in a chicken coop with all the hens after being free range would be tough for me.

I drive all over a good chunk of the state making home visits and live further from the closest office than I do the majority of the members that I visit. It would likely cost the company more in mileage to bring my department into the office but I could see them making RTO mandates on a departmental case by case basis. That being said, I hope they don't force RTO on everyone. I saw the effect that doing that had on my old company's staffing levels and it wasn't pretty.
