Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR Town Hall

For those reading this who aren't in HR, understand that many of us in HR have also NOT been privy to the innerworkings of this project, so basically, we're in the same boat as you. With the HR town hall happening tomorrow, top of mind is whether the completed HR org design (including where jobs will be geographically) will be shared. It would be thoughtful if tomorrow they will give everyone a sense of how drastic the cuts will be and a head start on job hunting, for those who've been waiting.

I don’t trust LD, JL, and the rest of the gang. Not sure if they have even figured out the implementation details. They picked October 1 as the go live date and they believe that the new hires in BA and Manila can take over immediately? Good luck to JL. I hope he succeeds in his new big role despite the fact that he has no shared services experience.

@g1 - right?! After waiting months and months for this information, to have the technology be so shoddy during the call was a huge fail. At least it's recorded and available for replay sans the sputtering and freezing.

Well that was an hour of our lives we will never get back. Focusing on why they are doing this as if anyone wants to hear that yet again zzzz and still no meaningful info or org charts.
The quality of the call was absolutely dire, conatantly dropping, shout out to the downfall of Chevron IT, was it sabotaged?! 🤣

To their credit, they've disclosed a lot with org charts to L4 and sharing the expected 30%-40% cuts in HR. Buckle up! It's going to be a tough few months.

@bm 500 ppl in SR alone either took EOI or was laid off…that’s out of 1500. How is that not bad?

I learned more at a group happy hour then 5 townhalls. HR should do the same.

I would strongly advise you to keep your expectations somewhere between the floor and the basement regarding seeing an org chart especially one with locations on it.
Your better bet would be to put an alert on job notifications overseas and see where your job pops up and that will be your answer.
Some of my colleagues are completely broken by this whole process but the company does not care.
It would appear that Dave Ramsay's step five is not on the radar.
Anyone unfamiliar with this it relates to giving back when you have enough to cover your own basic needs but it would appear that this company has no concept of when enough profit is enough.
Take your severance and find a company that will value you. Even employees that we fight for behind the scenes seem to hate HR so what's the point of we are the fall guys for those at the Top making the actual decisions.
And even if you do end up left behind you will be doing the jobs of three people for no more pay (development opportunities!) plus you will be in the office four to five days.

Don't expect earth shattering news! I think a lot of HR folks will walk away none the wiser with maybe the exception of how deep the cut will be. HR would not know transparency if crawled up their ar-e and slapped them in the face. LD seems to be running the show and a lot of things are 'simply not her style'

Who needs local HR when we have shared services? They don't care just as well as the clones taking up space locally.

OP, I agree with you; the waiting game has been agonizing and it's time to share with the rest of HR what HR is going to look like come October 1. Wishing you and all of us luck with this process. Can't wait until it's over.
