Geoffrey Hinton , the Godfather of AI thinks these jobs will not be available in two years:
- Customer Service and Call Center Jobs
AI chatbots and voice systems are improving rapidly and can handle many customer interactions without humans.
- Paralegals and Legal Assistants
Tools like GPT-4 and Claude can already draft legal documents, analyze contracts, and summarize case law.
- Radiologists and Medical Imaging Roles
Hinton has controversially said AI can do as well as, or better than, human radiologists in interpreting scans. He said:
“It might be better to stop training radiologists now.”
- Clerical and Data Entry Roles
Repetitive office work is especially vulnerable to automation with large language models and robotic process automation (RPA).
- Junior Programmers
AI can already write and optimize code. Entry-level software jobs are likely to be impacted first, especially for routine coding.
- Financial Analysts
AI tools can analyze earnings reports, market data, and even make predictions — potentially reducing the need for large analyst teams.
His Core Concern:
Hinton warns that the pace of AI development is faster than society or governments can adapt to, and the technology is not just about job loss — it’s about existential risk too.
He has also hinted at this grim scenario:
“We’re creating systems that can understand and manipulate humans better than we understand ourselves.”
