Another bright-eyed college grad canned before he even got a chance to get comfortable and figure out his job properly. It's the same story every time: no training, unrealistic expectations, then shocked Pikachu face when they struggle. And they keep blaming work ethic instead of nonexistent onboarding. The cycle continues.

Well at least he’s young and just starting out. Probably will be able to find another job with same pay or better. Being fresh out of college gives him more entry level opportunities. Being someone who’s entrenched in a certain career path with 20+ years and need certain salary to maintain their family- those are the people who I feel sorry for. The young ones can be more resilient. I actually think having a rig early in career is a good reality check. I was early in my career when riffed due to Great Recession. I switched career path and it benefited me in the long run.
Guess nobody told him that he is ultimately responsible for getting the work done, whether he has any staff or not. Promoted to the point of incompetence. For some, it can be a very short ladder.
My manager is the same way.
He does not take any sort of responsibility for training, then goes ballistic when you do not know how to do something.
The best part about the RIFs is that his floatation devices (employees and peers) aren't helping him stay above water anymore, and he's making more stupid decisions that can't be swept under the rug now that he's left to his own devices.
I'm hoping that it becomes apparent to the people who are in charge of him that he's a liability instead of an asset. Reason doesn't rule this place, but sometimes you get lucky.
