Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Bait and switch hiring

Are you a commission beauty associate?

Do you spend your time ringing items from other departments?

Are you asked to recover other departments?

Are you asked to cover lunch breaks in other departments?

Is your commission suffering because of it?

This may be the next lawsuit belk has on its hands.

@26a except the cosmetics dept makes commission and less an hour than regular associates they also have more actual work than regular associates. But all this is the issue from above.. GVP RVP etc they only do enough to justify what their existence.

Another issue is only one associate scheduled on the day we ring in pretells. I was not able to get all of them in which did not show my dept true numbers.

Also in my store we do not have more budgeted hours. We have two associates and we work open to close by ourselves most days.

@a26. The problem with helping out in the beauty dept is that we still have our massive goals to make in pretells and presells. And believe me we will hear it if we don"t make them. Not to mention that there is one person running all the counters plus handbags and jewelry. It is ridiculous. And if you are unlucky enough to have a manager that doesn't like you and nitpicks at you all day it becomes even difficult to make things work. And for the record we don't mind helping out but unlike other depts we have goals and timelines and that should be recognized!

"I get it!! What’s happening with Belk for the most part is not the stores fault. We are all doing way more than our job description. Unfortunately we have to ask help from Cosmetic associates because you are also employed by Belk and have more budgeted hours than most departments. Why should Cosmetics be exempted from helping out? Remember the whole store is suffering not just Cosmetics."

  • Belk is suffering because you have people doing jobs they were not hired to do and they all quit. This is not rocket science.
