Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

HR is hurting the company

Nikes HR function is bloated and getting in the way of progress. We are wasting a huge amount of money carrying an excessively large HR function.

They foolishly think they’re experts in the business domains while they know nothing.

Cut them and save money.

HR people blame MM and DA. TH has been part of the org for a long time and thrived under both leaders. Let us not forget this and just blame predecessors.

What talent do you need to get into HR other than being good with people? Lay down the skills, other than people

Expect Nike's technology staff to be slowly assumed by offshore workers. With positions becoming vacant by what little Americans are left leaving because of the atrocious work environment, expect them to be filled with third party offshore contractors.

To anyone who is left: get out now while you have a chance to formulate your exit strategy.

This goes for most managers and directors no matter what business group

There are some really talented people in HR but they aren’t actually able to “really” do anything impactful. Problem is the culture in HR is so toxic thanks to DA & MM. They proved the only way to get ahead was to lead by fear and intimidation:

People love to blame HR but they have little say over anything. It’s the function leaders in charge who have all the power. Point your anger at them for poor decisions, including hiring.

HR is pretty cut down at least from a few years ago. I would say probably a re-evaluation of talent and long standing employees may need to be reviewed.
