It is really wild to me how many people on this site continually log on to complain about #CVX and your job here. Most make $200k+, many do that with minimal effort and/or minimal educational. If you hadn't been su-ked in by consumerism and the Madison Ave. Wizards you would have saved and invested more and been in a position to control your own destiny. As far as corporations go, CVX is far from the worst: high-ish pay, good benefits, extremely low expectations. If you were recently displaced and find yourself in a financial bind, use this as a wakeup call. Your lifestyle was outpacing your sustainable income. If you weren't displaced- you can look forward to a few more years of mediocre performance and above average pay. Use it wisely. Diversify, don't take on large amounts of debt. Invest. This isn't rocket science. Oil and gas is one of the most poorly run segments of the economy. You should try working in an industry like hospitality, restaurants, or retail. Pay is lower, margins are smaller and accountability is higher. Most of you wouldn't make it. That's a sign. It is always sad to see people lose their job but let's not act like no one saw this coming. Chevron does not have a culture of innovation nor performance. How will that fare in the modern age?

@13a, How would you know what an anonymous unknown person accomplishes other than the obvious, make you jealous of what they earn?

You are paid too much money to attend meetings and not accomplish anything….
3 milly isn’t even a bunch after that many years . Totally believable and realistic if they are a 22 or higher
Lol 3.5mm my bottom pal take off a zero
You guys are getting paid?
Im a psg 26 and make $450k base
Fine, I'll be a butt. 26 years. Saved $3.5 million. Getting a fat severance and leaving an absolute cr-p-show of a re-org just in time. Sorry to folks without a big retirement savings. Sorry to new hires that never got to see what CVX used to look like. Sorry to all of you that make sh--e while a ton of us make stupid money and work so little. I was probably doing 15 hours a week for the past two years. Everything su-ks now for those that stayed. But I got mine, so... adios! (never checking this site again... I always found ex-employees posting here to be so f'ing sad. Just dropped of my badge)
OP is correct for middle/high performers in their 50s & up. People in their 30s and 40s with family responsibilities would not have had the time to reach FI, unless they got lucky with stocks or crypto. Getting left standing at that age is crushing.
And the entitled contractors on our teams that talk negatively about their supervisors and the company. Why are you even here?
It's human nature to complain. The biggest complainers will tell themselves under their breath how blessed they are to work or have worked here. Just hang out with your friends who find out Friday they are getting laid off with little to now severance and here we are with over a year notice of the threat of something and then getting a minimum of 30 days redeployment plus 2 weeks per year of service...
@b5 is your 165k base or total?
The point OP is trying to make, and I think he/she did a great job, is that we are very compensated compared to the real outside world. Even if you are making $100k, you are making more than most people.
Point is that people had major lifestyle creep and rely on these over bloated compensation packages.
💯
Where are those jobs that pay 200k a year with minimal academic training and "relatively" low expectations? Share the link where that information is found, don't be selfish
I make 165k as a psg 22 and there's many more like me. But I agree with everything else you said.
Most make $200k+? Are you crazy?
100% agree OP
Spot on!
