Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Can we summarize where we're at?

What's the overall situation? How many are gone and how many are left to go? How long are we safe for now after this round? Do we know any of this?

Midland WARN on Texas workforce commission website showed about 200 people total. However, there was nothing ever put on that website for Houston. However, I imagine it was higher than what CA expected to have.

California WARN was for over 600 and that is only for wave 1. That is probably more reliable than anything the Company will share. Not sure what happened in TX, I don't think the state laws are the same as CA regarding notices.

@b2 - My sincerest sympathies. I'm in the second wave, so I may likely be in your shoes as well. Wishing you the best as you move forward.

I wrote this on another post:

This is my summary. Going to the office on Thursday was surreal. The floor I am on was vacant, I would conclude the contractors were told to work from home because there was not a contractor to be seen. They were not all off work because of Juneteenth holiday because they were Indian not African American. The chevron managers had enough forethought to tell the contractors to stay home but not tell the employees who was staying and who was being left standing.
It is funny when the ELT has parties to celebrate them leaving the company and they hide the layoff of the average employee. So much for “Human energy” and all that cr@p….

I have never seen the complete breaking the will of an entire company in less than a year (I got 20 years with 3 independents). That said I am giving it a chance because I was never Chevronized. It will be harder for others because no one is working for the same company they were a year ago. The old Chevron identity is shattered.

It’s only “not as bad” as they said to the people that received job positions. At my house, my wife and I are crying, so it’s all a matter of your situation. :(

It wasn’t as bad as it initially seemed, since quite a few people ended up staying on with the new organization. Most of the folks I’ve spoken with have said the same.

Remove the word “safe” from your vocabulary and you’ll be fine.

With all possible respect and sympathy for the laid off people, Chevron will soon start to realize the irreparable damage done to the survivals as well.
Good luck …

@OP moral across the board, everywhere. Is the lowest I’ve seen in my 35 year career working for 5 different companies.
9 yr run with one company. Left on my own, 14 with the next, left on my own, then 3, went thru this type of BS. 18 month with another and 8 here at Chevron.
Great Job Chevron! I would be embarrassed to have anything out there with The Human Energy slogan.
