Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Anyone else being forced to do multiple roles on their team?

With the guise of "we need backups in case you're out"

I'm on a team that handles a lot of data, and now I'm being told I have to work on tech support, essentially, which is something another team member does. And now I'm being asked to teach my workload to another team member.

Feels like setting everyone up to be let go, or at least easier to cherry pick when the time comes.

@1r8 Although your logic isn't flawed, logic itself is not in play these days. If you've been doing the work of 2 or more FTEs to "fill a gap until more resources are brought on board" but realize that rationale was just smoke in mirrors, so you try to stop by telling your leadership that you will no longer be the solution to their resource problem, they will gaslight you, put you on a PIP, and make an example of you, so after they fire you the remaining staff will pick up your work and the extra work you had been doing without complaining, lest they be the next one on the chopping block. Ask me how I know.

@1r8 this is why people like you will never move up in their career and keep complaining that there's no opportunities when you barely can do a simple tasks and complain all day.

@1r0+1jy41x8bk who are you working HARD for? So the CEO / CxO / EVP / SVP / Manager can get their bonuses? Because you sure as heck aren't gonna see a dime. If anything you probably are the reason why someone else does not have a job because you are working HARD as in two jobs. Puppets like you is why greed exists on the top.

Been doing multiple roles since starting at the bank over 8 years ago. This is nothing new and those that are complaining clearly have never worked hard in their life and clearly struggle to do their single simple tasks and hold back the team and complain thats it's not in their role to do.

@v6+1jy41x8bk get over what? It's you who comes to a layoff website and expect ponies and unicorns here. Ideally, it should be you who needs to get over it.

If it is still 40 hours per week in total then it is okay but if it requires additional time to learn and apply then it is the equivalent of you asking your manager for double salary ... you know ... you'd like to stock up on $$$ just in case you lose the job in the future. See how that stupid that sounds?

You have 2 choices - push back and risk being on the chopping block OR comply and be on the chopping block. Do not for a minute assume that compliance equals job security.
